Empowering Women in Leadership: Is It Time to Include Men in the Conversation?

Yesterday I spent the morning with a group of senior women in finance to get their feedback on what they would like to achieve as participants on a Women in Leadership programme that we are in the process of developing for them .

When designing leadership training for women, there's an ongoing debate about whether to include men or focus solely on women. Both approaches have unique benefits depending on the objectives of the program.

What these women discussed was that a women only program would allow them to :

·      Create a safe space for discussions

·      Give them an opportunity to tackle gender-specific challenges

·      Network with each other to provide more support

However, another objective of the program is to create culture change that moves towards inclusivity . If men are not included in the conversation we are not mirroring the real world .Collaboratively men and women are more likely to create a shared vision of a more inclusive future .

This debate is one that we have with many clients and finally the decision on whether to include men depends on many factors .

At  Mojo our leadership development programs for women strive to offer the best of both worlds—women-centered  spaces for deep growth AND inclusive training sessions in collaboration and allyship to drive culture change.
